2023 Honda Pilot Hybrid – The 2023 Honda Pilot was supposed to arrive in dealerships with an optional hybrid variant. There was a rumor that there will be the first-ever 2023 Honda Pilot Hybrid and that would have made the midsize SUV more appealing to customers concerned with fuel economy and the environment.
The Honda Pilot was introduced in June 2002 as a 2003 model and has survived three generations and twenty years on the market. “The Ultimate American Family Expedition Car,” built on a car-like unibody platform, has been reinvented for its fourth generation after selling over two million units worldwide.
Will there be the 2023 Pilot Hybrid Option?
There have been rumors of a 2023 Honda Pilot hybrid variant beneath the handsome-looking skin, but for now, we can confirm that the 2023 Honda Pilot looks every bit the part of an adventure-ready SUV.
Unfortunately, Honda did not include a hybrid powertrain in this new generation of the Pilot. This could change in the coming years, but the new model will need to be equipped with hybrid power.
The Honda Pilot has traditionally been powered by a large gasoline engine, but electrification is unavoidable this decade. A hybrid powertrain (self-charging) should be available as an option for the midsize SUV. Honda has promised hybrid variants of core models shortly but hasn't said anything about the new Pilot.
There are a few things that need to be discovered about the new 2023 Pilot. We don't know about the fuel economy, but given that it's a larger vehicle with a more powerful engine. It seems unlikely to be better than the outgoing model — and there's no Pilot hybrid in sight. Another unknown is how much more Honda intends to charge for this additional Pilot. Everything gets more expensive every year, so the SUV's price will likely rise when it hits dealerships later this year. Still, given the improvements in size and equipment, as well as the new TrailSport's potential capabilities, it should be worthwhile.
Along with the promising exterior, The 3.5-liter V6 engine, which has been a part of the Pilot for many years, now produces more power. The 2023 Pilot SUV has 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with a new 10-speed automatic transmission to provide smooth shifting and a comfortable ride.
With a rugged three-terrain-mode available AWD system and great MPGs. You can expect plenty of grunt for towing and tough-terrain exploring. The EPA-estimated 20/27 MPG (city/highway)1 for the 2022 model, and we expect this top rating to rise even higher.
When properly equipped, the 2022 Honda Pilot can tow up to 5,000 pounds. We expect this rating to hold or even improve and hope there will be the 2023 Honda Pilot hybrid option released.
